Un ataque israelí contra la única parroquia católica, la iglesia de la Sagrada Familia, dejó como saldo dos personas muertas y seis heridas.

Among the injured was Argentine priest Gabriel Romanelli, who suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized.

The parish, which currently provides shelter to numerous people displaced by the conflict, was attacked amid intense fighting. The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, confirmed both the attack and the identities of the victims.

Father Romanelli is known for having maintained daily contact with Pope Francis until his death on April 21, 2025. After the pontiff's death, that connection continued with his successor, Pope Leo XIV. Romanelli was providing humanitarian aid at the time of the attack.
